The summer tourism season, combined with locals traveling around the region and the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) Expansion Project construction, means increased traffic through the project corridor.

With the increase of activity, motorists are encouraged to drive safely and drive informed through the HRBT Expansion Project.  Motorists can expect additional traffic shifts, detours, and daytime and nighttime lane closures as crews perform construction activities during the summer months. Construction areas include, but are not limited to, work to widen the I-64 bridges over W. Evans Street; Mallory Street Bridge construction over I-64; and work on the North and South Islands as they prepare for the arrival of Mary the Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM).  Read more…
